Does the magnetic strip need to attach to metal?
A and B matched magnetic tapes are designed to attract and bond to each other using opposite polarity, eliminating the need for a metallic surface.
Their bonding mechanism is somewhat similar to how Velcro strips connect. This system allows two surfaces—whether metallic or non-metallic—to be joined magnetically by applying A tape to one side and B tape to the other using the peel-and-stick adhesive.
The opposing poles on the exposed sides then attract, securely joining the surfaces. Matched pole tapes are commonly used for attaching insect screens or double glazing to non-metallic windows without the need for screws or tools. The magnetically attached screen can be easily removed when access to the window is required. In contrast, a single or unmatched magnetic tape must be applied to a metallic surface to create a bond.
