FlyMag- The A&B Magnetic Tape System
A and B matched tape systems are engineered to work together as a pair, bonding through opposite magnetic poles. Proper alignment of these poles is essential for effective attraction. Here are some key points to consider:
Pole Alignment
- Negative and Positive Poles: Similar to other magnets, magnetic strips have designated positive and negative poles that must be aligned for attraction.
- Tape Pairing: Using two B tapes or two A tapes will not create a precise alignment, which is crucial for effective bonding.
Adhesive and Application
- Adhesive Backing: Most A and B paired tape systems feature adhesive on the back, positioned on the opposite side of each tape. This design ensures correct pole alignment when bonding different surfaces (e.g., A-type tape on one surface and B-type tape on another).
Practical Applications
- Versatile Bonding: A and B matched tapes can create magnetic bonds between various surfaces, eliminating the need for metallic surfaces. This capability is particularly useful for:
- Double Glazing: Installing double glazing within timber and aluminium windows, which allows for easy removal.
- Flyscreens: Attaching timber flyscreens to non-metallic window frames (using A-type tape on the frame and B-type tape on the screen).
Product Availability
- Strength Considerations: When attaching large or heavy items, wider tapes are recommended. They provide a stronger magnetic bond due to the increased contact area, resulting in better adhesion thanks to more adhesive on the non-magnetic side.
- Stocked Options: Magnets Australia offers rolls of magnetic strip in various lengths and widths, which can be easily cut to your desired size.
- We have a large hardware range of matching A&B pole strips in our FlyMag Range including an all in one kit!
