What is the most suitable product for installing retrofit double glazing on my windows?

Double glazing has gained popularity in new homes for its enhanced insulation properties. But what about existing homes?

Replacing windows with new double-glazed units can be quite costly. A more affordable alternative is retrofit double glazing, which involves attaching a perspex sheet to the inside of the existing window, leaving a small gap between the glass and the perspex. To facilitate easy access, the perspex must be removable, and this can be achieved using magnetic strip.

Since most window frames are made of wood or aluminum, which are non-ferrous materials, we have developed a special two-part product that enables magnetic attachment between non-magnetic surfaces. The A and B Magnetic Tape Systems are perfect for connecting window frames (whether wooden or aluminum) to acrylic panels for retrofit double glazing.

These matched tape systems are designed to function together as a pair, bonding through opposite magnetic poles. Each tape has adhesive on one side, which aligns correctly with its corresponding tape. This design ensures accurate placement when bonding two different surfaces—one with A tape and the other with B tape.

Keep in mind that acrylic sheeting is a heavy material. It’s essential to install thicker sheets in a way that allows the window sill to support the weight, while the magnetic tape simply holds the sheet in place. Use our FlyMag to insulate your home!
